RISD Quickies

2013-2015

RISD Quickies is a peer-to-peer workshop series I revived with Connor Lynch and Elizabeth Goodspeed. In two years we were able to grow the organization from about 30 yearly participants to over 600, which is roughly 1 in every 4 undergraduate students at RISD.

We accomplished this with a mix of organizational design, great marketing (all credit goes to Elizabeth for that), and a big social media presence. My main contribution as co-director was operations work including managing the budget, as well as refining our marketing and instructor management strategy.

We did a series of posters for fake Quickies to help generate interest and buzz for the upcoming season. These were two of the most fun we came up with.

The instructor's manual was a key element of our success. It outlined everything that aspiring instructors were responsible for, which increased their ownership and follow-through. The thoughtful design drove home the message that we valued our instructors' time.

One source of growth for Quickies was a website that we would be able to rapidly update to keep students abreast of new classes, and changes to the schedule.
